‘Neuromancer’ Goes Into Pre-Production

After years in development, Vincenzo Natali’s Neuromancer is finally moving forward. According to a press release, the film has secured sales from distributors at Cannes and visual effects work has already begun. Filming will begin in 2012 with locations in Canada, Istanbul, Tokyo, and London.

Samsung has already superseded its own inadequate ten-inch Galaxy tab with a brand new tablet that it thinner than the iPad 2. The company has also announced a tweener-sized 8.9-inch tablet.

This upgrade to the cheap-feeling Tab 10.1 we saw at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, measures in at 256.6 x 172.9 x 8.6 mm and weighs 595g. Compare that to the iPad 2, at 241.2 x 185.7 x 8.8 mm and 601 g for the Wi-Fi only model.

Verifone adding NFC to all new POS hardw

Point-of-Sale (POS) hardware specialist Verifone has confirmed it will be integrating NFC support into all of its new terminals, a move that should dramatically speed the adoption of wireless payments. Describing the decision as a reaction to “merchant resistance,” CEO Douglas G Bergeron told NFC World that those retailers upgrading their POS hardware will find that they are automatically able to process NFC and contactless payments. However, he also cautions that throwing in an NFC chip won’t be sufficient to kill off traditional payment methods.
